The Boating Risk Analysis INnformation System (BRAINS) uses the statistical relationships between accident report variables within the U.S. Coast Guard's Boating Accident Report Database (BARD) System to determine the probability that a specific accident could occur given the conditions entered by a user. BRAINS enables those interested in boating accidents to determine the effect a specific variable, or group of variables, have on the probability that a specific accident could occur based on the relationships between variables within the BARD System.
 

In order to meet our varying audience's needs, we have developed two versions of the BRAINS tool, an online version and a desktop software version. Simply choose the one that is right for you.

BRAINS ONLINE An online version of the BRAINS tool. You may run as many models as you need and obtain the results immediately.
BRAINS SOFTWARE

If your needs are more advanced than our online version, this version may be for you. This is a desktop version of the BRAINS tool. The desktop version of BRAINS can be downloaded for free.

The desktop version supports:

  • Multiple models in a report for comparisions
  • Saving of model comparisions
  • Formatted results printouts
